About Karen – Herbalist, Maker, Instinct Whisperer
Hey there, I’m Karen—the heart, hands, and (slightly snarky) spirit behind Tangled Roots Herbal.
I’ve been crafting soap and botanical skincare since 1999, back when using herbs felt more like rebellion than routine. Tangled Roots was founded in 2016, and I took the reins in 2018, seeing it as a natural progression of the work I was already doing. But honestly? It became so much more than I expected. It became a space where people could reconnect—to plants, to their bodies, to their own inner knowing.
Since beginning formal herbal training in 2018, my belief has only deepened: herbs aren’t just for aches and sniffles (though they’re great for that, too). They’re tools for tuning in. For remembering who we are beneath all the noise and nonsense society piles on us. Herbs help us listen again—to our bodies, our intuition, and the natural cycles that hold us.
Now that Tangled Roots Herbal has fully transitioned online, I’ve returned to my roots (pun intended). I offer organic herbs in small, affordable quantities, handcrafted herbal remedies, and just enough earthy magic to remind you that healing doesn’t have to be sterile or soulless. Whether you’re a green witch, an herbal curious newbie, or someone just looking for a more natural way to feel better, you’re welcome here.
Why I Do This
Because the world doesn’t need more noise—it needs more nature. More trust in our gut feelings. More remedies made with intention, not just trendy packaging.
I do this because herbs helped me through grief, anxiety, burnout, and those “what the hell am I doing?” life moments. They taught me how to slow down. How to breathe. How to trust myself again.
This isn’t just a business—it’s a calling. One I answer with every tea blend, every blog post, every lovingly labeled remedy that goes out my door. I want you to feel empowered, educated, and a little enchanted. Because healing isn’t just physical—it’s a whole-body, whole-life, come-home-to-yourself kind of thing.
