Stichtite Specimens

Stichtite is a rare mineral that is found in association with serpentinite, a rock composed of the mineral serpentine. It is named after the Sticht Range in Tasmania, where it was first discovered.

Stichtite has a pink to purple color, and is often found in small, botryoidal or stalactitic formations. It has a soft, waxy luster and a greasy feel. Stichtite is composed of hydrated magnesium chromium carbonate hydroxide, with the chemical formula Mg6Cr2CO3(OH)16·4H2O.
