Let's talk about Moldavite.
We've been getting multiple requests *a day* for this stone, and it seemingly came out of nowhere, since we never heard much chatter about this stone before a couple months ago. So what's the deal? Why is it so popular and hard to find?
Moldavite isn't actually a crystal; it's glass! Moldavite is formed from the impact of a meteorite into the earth in the area south of Germany. A lot of power and energy is associated with this stone because of its celestial connection, but it falls into the same category of all the other tektites (small glass stones formed from meteoric impact) and some other terrestrial stones as well!
Moldavite is lauded for its strong spiritual awakening abilities. It's very "high vibe", being used to heighten and raise personal vibrations, in activations, and for rapid spiritual evolution. It certainly is a powerful and overwhelming little stone when you hold it!
The problem with Moldavite is its popularity. Due to the way it's harvested from the earth, the Czech Republic has restricted mining so that its a bit more difficult and expensive but helps maintain and protect the local environment. This is probably why its harder to find right now; Moldavite has exploded in blogs and on TikTok, and so everyone is on the hunt for some.
There's also the issue of fake Moldavite. Because Moldavite was so sought after for jewelry when it was first discovered, a lot of fake specimens flooded the market to cash in. It can be quite hard to tell the difference, which makes the hunt for authentic Moldavite that much more difficult.
But is Moldavite really as powerful as everyone is claiming? Well, yes and no. Moldavite certainly packs quite an energetic punch, but its definitely not the "end all be all" of healing and activation stones. All tektites have the same celestial, extraterrestrial energy connection, and other stones from right here on earth are also just as strong and useful. Below, we've listed some stones similar to Moldavite in power and usage. While you struggle to track down this stone, you might try your hand at some of the others as well! Variety is the spice of life, after all.
Nuummite: Nuummite is one of the oldest stones on earth, formed during a volcanic eruption almost 4 billion years ago. It's a powerful piece for spiritual awakening, energy enhancement, and has the added bonus of being a grounding stone as well (something Moldavite definitely lacks). Hold a piece of Nuummite in your hand and you can definitely feel the power emanating from the dark stone.
Lemurian Quartz: this stone is similar to regular quartz for amplification and clarification, but maybe if quartz were on steroids. It's used for spiritual awakening, power amplification, accessing higher states of consciousness, and conencting to the wholeness of the universe. Its often called the "Master Crystal" because of its impact on every energetic center of the body.
Labradorite: Labradorite is a particularly strong stone for personal development work. It's said to activate "magickal" abilities, helps to align to a person's greater energy and purpose, and relieves stress which can act as an energetic blocker. It also has the added bonus of being a grounding stone as well for when the energy might start to overwhelm you. Labradorite is powerful enough to align the energetic field and awaken latent talents but gentle enough to wear daily. Its iridescent nature makes it captivating to look at as well!
Selenite: Stick with us here. Selenite is a fairly common stone but one that has strong celestial connection, if that's what draws you to Moldavite. Its an impressive stone for moon work but also helps connect us to other heavenly bodies and the energies of the general universe as well. It's an energetic aligner, it awakens spiritual connection, it clears confusion, and it's excellent for meditation and deep inner work. Plus, some consider Selenite to be self-cleansing, so you never have to worry about overloading the stone or remembering when you last cleansed it. This is a particularly desireable stone for witches who like to follow the moon with their practice.
