The lovely white trees are not only wise, but full of medicinal properties. One such constituent is salicylate, which has been shown to relieve inflammation and pain associated with osteoarthritis, gout, rheumatoid arthritis and just general muscle pain. Also has strong diuretic action and birch leaves and birch bark can be taken in teas, and infused in oil for pain relief. Use externally as a poultice for pain relief. NOTE: we don’t recommend taking the essential oil internally unless under the care of a certified aromatherapist, and extremely diluted. PLEASE research this herb well before deciding if it’s right for you.
